Re: Black is Beautiful
Thu, November 17, 2005 - 4:27 AMI hope this doesn't sound trite but, beauty is what beauty does. We probably all know people who are esthetically, beautiful but have "ugly ways". This holds true for all races. But to comment on your assertion, certainly Black can be beautiful. However the ad world seems to ebb and flow in it's embracement of that statement.

Re: Black is Beautiful
Thu, November 17, 2005 - 9:47 PMNow axel that's just not true! LOL I've been there and back a few times, but its minds and souls and eyes I connect to, sure black is beautiful, and so are you! (sorry for the rhyming, I can't seem to help it)
and as far as coloquialisms go, megh, yours is a fairly positive one, as it originated as a statement of reclamation...and we all have our thing that floats our boats the best...and I won't argue that its not true, as long as it's not said in an exclusive way...Black is beautiful, brown, yellow, pink, green...
My stepfather used to say, when people were surpised at his youthful appearance..."Black don't crak baby!! Black don't crack!!" Now that's a statement I can get behind...lol

Re: Black is Beautiful
Sat, November 19, 2005 - 8:30 PMBlack is the endless beauty, the timeless absolute reality, you cannot fathom it that is why the color seems to excite hatred, and excitement simultaneously, for other colors, cannot achieve by artificial means, what is given by nature. The color which overshadows everything, it conquers all, Black is sober and somber, its the color which dictates the appearance of stars in the heaven. Thats the influence it holds. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL AND ABSOLUTE, PEOPLE LETS ALL OF SAY SO. I know that Man has not lost, he cannot loose his source in the ABSOLUTE, and as Present has no duration, it is therefore the inlet to TIMELESS ABSOLUTE.

Sat, December 10, 2005 - 9:11 PMHey laurie,
where did you loose me, I wonder! ask your doubts and hopefully I will try and answer. Somewhere the questions posed links with my question asked in previous post. Whats in color?Does it really matter? When two person of two different ethinic values love and care for one another? Please do feeling to link me back to the thread of thoughts which I may have lost, and failed to hold onto to complete my chain.
I wont dispute the fact that Beauty is STATE, but would add that BEAUTY lies in the eyes of the BEHOLDER, its neither imagination or an Idea that dominates the mind. Thats why I said Black is Beauty beyond comparisson.

Sun, December 18, 2005 - 7:59 PMI think perhaps where you lost me was in its exclusive sounding nature.
but by your most recent post, It sounds like that wasn't your intention. -

ie:

"... the timeless absolute reality... The color which overshadows everything..." -

Re: ie:
Sun, December 18, 2005 - 11:41 PMI think I understand where J is coming from. It might be related to the concept of darkness, save that he is saying darkness with a capital 'D'. Something like the Alpha and the Omega or the existence of a force that precedes all. Apply that to skin/culture and it makes sense to me. Am I on the right track, Joe? -
-
Re: ie:
Sun, December 18, 2005 - 11:42 PMExcuse me. The Alpha AS WELL AS the Omega in a coexisting space with everything in between. That's more of where I was going with that.

Re: ie:
Mon, December 19, 2005 - 6:32 AMbang on Patient,
right on the dot. Only darkness is comparative, for darkness is the simile here. The existant with which I have compared black, today we hold and call ourselves Humans, where color actually does not matter. There are many cultures which are rich in traditions giving sustanence to other cultures even today. Color is skin deep only.

Re: ie:
Mon, December 19, 2005 - 6:26 AMBlackness is absolute and absolute is timeless, it is the Present, its the part of Universe, its always present, only dispelled with white, colour is imagination, mirage. One cannot fathom deapth of blackness, its endless. that is why I said black is the colour which overshadow every thing.
Skin colour in medical science is problem of pigmentation, and nothing more. One can get his/her colour changed by todays medical science.
Even the white crave for the tinge of black only it makes them tanned.
I hold Black is beautiful.

Tue, December 20, 2005 - 5:33 AMYour overall intent is positive Joe, but my feathers were ruffled when you wrote skin color "is a *problem* of pigmentation". Just saying all shades are fine, none are a 'problem' per say. -

Re: -
Tue, December 20, 2005 - 9:14 AMsorry i did not mean to, but we indians were also illtreated by the Gora=White skinned, who came as traders and ruled over us for nearly two hundred years. In Calcutta in one hotel they had put up a sign "Dogs and Indians not allowed."
Well we saw to that their sun had set all over the world. In states to there are still people who dont appreciate the black colour of skin, so it prevails in Australia, Newzeland and a few other places. That is why I used the term Skin color.
I am sorry I did not mean to ruffle you in any way. I am black but I love colours and together they make white.

Tue, December 20, 2005 - 11:17 PMthanks for the clarification patience, and I did partially get where he was coming from, I just thought it sounded exclusiv. I suppose it's semantics at this point, since we're all in agreement that black is beautiful, as is every other colour.
I do have to ask you tho, joe - is "Gora" a derogatory term...? I've not heard it before.

Re: -
Wed, December 21, 2005 - 7:25 AMgora means fair or white as we Indians used this term to classify the britishers, we called them Gora Sahibs white boss.
more or less used in despite. But today the term is hardly referred to by any one. Its said that time is a great healer, and time indeed has wiped out that memory of the term GORA from our minds.
Now may I ask you a question. I have not understood the term [I did partially get where he was coming from!!] what does this portion of the sentence mean. Has it to do something to with me being an Indian, and coming from India?
Please be kind enough to explain your infact Patient's use of this phrase. I shall be grateful and feel obliged.

Wed, December 21, 2005 - 6:02 PMFirst of all, I would just like to apologise for the accidental double post - either my computer or tribe was being glitchy and I didn't even think it had posted.
As for my comment "I did partially get where he was coming from"...I just meant that I partially understood your intended meaning. "where you're coming from" is a sort of slang phrase which means understood shared meaning. We also say " I feel you" and a few other different terms...so not litterally coming from physically, but more mentally. -

Mon, December 26, 2005 - 10:32 AMseems ironic seeing that statement in an interracial tribe -

Re: Black is Beautiful
Mon, December 26, 2005 - 11:25 AMI have to agree with you totally! As a matter of fact, I'll take it one step further... it smacks of racism!
I only very recently joined this tribe. And I joined it because I'm color blind when it come to beautiful women, be they white, yellow, red, black, or anything inbetween. But I have to tell you, when I saw this thread my impression was not, "this is a tribe that celebrates the diversity and beauty of all cultures and ethnic groups." Rather, the message I received was, "this is a tribe celebrating black ethnicity to the exclusion of all others!"
Now like I said, I'm new here, and this thread may have simply been a fluke. But I'd appreciate it if someone would let me know if I'm in the right place or not! -

Mon, December 26, 2005 - 8:25 PMHey Fath,
I am sorry I sound ironic, I did not mean to, I got a little confused by the use of terms of reference, and I thought I ought to clarify it before, I get upset over nothing.
Laurie was kind she explained, they are many who would have just shut their eyes to my question. I did not mean to insult any one.
Next time I would rather a personal message to seek a clarification rather than asking it openly.
Sorry once again,
Take Care thankyou for puting me back on tracks again.
