I was wondering if there's ever such a place in or around your neighbourhood or where country you're from that does possess an friendly face when it comes to mixing and relating with interracial couples.

not well usually. they may keep their mouth shut but you can still hear it after you walk by and also the housing is difficult to get sometimes when youre an interracial couple, if they find out about it before you move in, it sometimes makes things difficult from what i hear.

D.C. is the south, it just ain't suthern! It does not matter whether you are in Washington state or D.C., it is impossible for anyone to be anywhere in America without being unfairly judged and mistreated. I have been up and down the east coast, and I have never experienced April's utopia, even in D.C.! Americans are mostly prejudiced nazi's, it's our upbringing, lack of education, and love of jesus.

Even if you have never esperienced it doesn't mean it does not exhist....

I moved to DC from OR state and found many parts of this area to be really open and have never felt "mistreated" as you say. I tihnk sometimes if you approach life as someone who knows being treated bad is a given then it is bound to happen.

There was a reality TV show called "Black-White", which while a little ridiculous in parts, there were scenes where the African-America father said he "knew" what the whites were thinking, which were derogatory thoughts about him!
Unless he is truly psychic, I did not believe him. As the white father made up to look black, did not have these same thoughts in similar situations.

But I don't deny that some parts of America are racist.

When I lived in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN, everything was friendly, like nobody even noticed.

When staying in Las Vegas for a while, I never experienced anything negative, and friends and neighbors were always friendly.

Columbia, MD. It was partially founded by a white man who was married to a black woman. They were run out of several town before he helped creating Columbia in the late sixties.

Wow! This is the first time I'm hearing of such. They both must have caught some fire from angry neighbours in their time ...

I was hanging out in Oakland by Lake Merrit and couldn't believe how many light and brown couples I was seeing! I had always been the rare red-head with a brown goddess and it was sweet to see so many shiny happy people lovin' through the racisms of yester years

I would have to say Australia does have some pretty intense race issues actually....there is a lot of issues concering native peoples and their loss of rights. As for Thailand, though the issues are generally different yes they also have race issues.

I moved to Oakland from Milpitas, which is where I grew up. My family thought I was nuts. But I wanted to live in a racially dicerse town. While growing up in Milpitas was great for a kid , But for an adult it was a bit boring. The interesting thing is that my son is bi racial and he moved out to So Cal to go to school. His complaint was that he felt pressured to make a choice. either be white or black. And since his family is a total rainbow he didn't know what they were talking about. He has two cousins that are black/white, one that is black/laoian and one that is black/black. So Oakland is not where he wants to be.

By the way my mom is so proud of her "rainbow grandbabies' as she calls them. They range from 4 yr to 24 yr.
She's mixed also black/jewish. which was no picnic in 1940 Arkansas.
