Do you ever think, or believe, that such a time would eventually come that the colour of a person's skin would no longer matter in this world that we live in?

Good question, Philip! Possibly so if people allow themselves to grow!

I wonder, in racism's absence, does anyone think that there may always be some kind of measure of difference that we as a species will always have to get over? If so, will be ever be as one in every sense of being?

I agree...no matter what ...I think one group will find something different about the next...weather it religion...where you live...hell it may come down to eye color. It may just be our human competitive nature, wish i had the answers though.

You know, there's a sentiment floating around in some circles that tends to emphasis that the reason why racism has been prolonged in this world is on account of religon. That religon plays some viable role in enhancing it ...

Oh oh, Philip...Now, you know that you're going have to elaborate on that before we go any further on that! :)

I believe that many shared experiences can influence a number of behaviors, both good and bad. Why racism would be an exception I couldn't imagine. I'm curious though about where you're coming from on this. Please do say more!

In my country, one of the lingering problems has always been the issue of religous crises. The muslims are always at logger-heads with the christians over some ridiculous issue or another and much of it is being fermented by the spiritual leaders of such groups.

But if you take that and look at the world presently, like what's still ongoing in the Middle East and also much of this war on terrorism, you see that it all has much to do with religon and in a subtle way such things are known to bring about racial tensions.

I would love to see this happen. Unfortunately, the world is slow moving in this direction. Love sees no color.

yep, i can see it getting closer every day, because we're finding other reasons to hate each other, like religion, sexual orientation, all kinds of stuff, soon the color of our skin wont even be noticed.
    Sad, but true.

But after that there's going to come another reason to bring up more hate, like all this gay marraige stuff.

no, not in this lifetime. This country and Internationally rely on race as a precurser to power.

In the few countries that I have traveled, this was a major issue. Due to my skin tone, I was either discriminated against on some level and also saw those that were in power were only light skinned whites. Even in the Latin countries that I traveled, the people you saw in power and on TV were very stream lined in their featured, lighter hair and had thinner features.

I believe it is well on its way. For instance.... There are so many mixed race children. My daughter is half Black and half White. She married a man half Black and Half Mexican. My grandchildren are all of the above. What box do they check? They are not one race and they speak two languages. The day is comming when we are all so mixed we will all be one. I wish I could live long enough to see that.

I hope some day it comes true, but I am a realist and don't expect to see it in my life time. Racial barriers are coming down slowly, but they will never really go away. Someone will always find a way to hate another person. Be it religion, poltics, money, etc.
