I'm guessing that most of you some time ago have seen that classic Spike Lee movie back in the early nineties called Jungle Fever, which starred Wesley Snipes and Annabelle Scorria having a fling. Anyway, I've always thought that the movie had much biasness on the issue of interracial relationships. Anybody think otherwise?

Re: About JUNGLE FEVER
Sat, May 5, 2007 - 12:45 PMI would say so...but it was also done in a time when many folks were not openly comfortable because of others criticising their choices.

Re: About JUNGLE FEVER
Sat, May 5, 2007 - 1:08 PMAll right, then here's another question: do you think Hollywood is now well able to effectively protray interracial couples on screen or not? I ask this becasue I recall when that Will Smith movie (HITCH) came out, there were some angry talk about why they had to use a Latin woman instead of a black for his love interest. -

Sat, May 5, 2007 - 3:35 PMthe question why not use someone different?

It was supposed to, Spike Lee was making a statement that the lines are blurred no matter what your ethnic background. There will always be some of "your" people who will not accept an "other". I think it was a beutifully portrayed look at the messiness (in this world)interracial relationships.
And, btw, when this movie was made, it was NOT a "hollywood" movie. -

Sun, May 6, 2007 - 6:35 PMred..you;re right. in real life many folks criticise our choices...and not always because of race. Sometimes class and religion as well. I encountered the religion bais back when i was in my 20's. dated a jewish guy who I adored, but his "parents" were not pleased. He still ended up marrying a catholic...and now he's abck with a hispanic female. You can't stop love

Re: About JUNGLE FEVER
Mon, May 7, 2007 - 10:55 AMBut here's another thing: haven't you noticed that though the much of the world is presently trying to adapt itself to the ever-changing interracial relationships, Hollywood is still finding it a bit awkward when it comes to protraying it? How many movies have you seen where the lead actor, a white fellow, is in love with a black or let's say Hispanic lady?

Re: About JUNGLE FEVER
Fri, May 11, 2007 - 10:45 AMHeroes is a television series on ABC. It is far too complicated of a story to recount here. You should go to www/abc.com/heroes for details. -
